C. Derick Varn is a poet, teacher, and theorist now living in Salt Lake City.  His first collection of poems, Apocalyptics, is available from Unlikely Books. His second collection, "Liberation and all that bright etcetera" is available from Mysterioso Books. He worked for Zero Books as a reader of theory and nonfiction and is a poetry reviewer for the Hong Kong Review of Books.  He co-founded the defunct online literary journal, Former People.   He currently co-hosts Mortal Science and is a regular on This is Revolution. 

Derick has spent most of the last decade abroad: first in South Korea, then in Northern Mexico, and Egypt.
